Live Music: David Mills

At age 12, David Mills realized Led Zeppelin didn't translate on the banjo.  So he traded Appalachian twang for electric riffs and never looked back.  As a Navy brat, David moved every few years, making new friends and forming new bands wherever he landed.  That nomadic rhythm shaped him into the lead guitarist and solo singer he is today.

We’re pouring two different flights, each designed to showcase the personality, craft, and pure joy of sparkling wine:

The Pop Culture Flight | $20

A sparkling world tour in three pours — Famille Antech M Le Mauzac, Celler Kripta Cava Lelievre, and Brut Leucquois Rosé. This flight highlights three distinct styles of bubbles, each with its own story, texture, and charm — bright, expressive, and full of personality.

Literary Night @Capri Cellars

Capri Cellars is pleased to host Literary Nights: Earth Day Incantation – Forces of nature, gardens of eden, hellish landscapes and fermented grapes

Is the state of our current environment symptomatic of a Mother Earth pushed too far? She walks barefoot through stony streets, shedding blood. Fishes wriggle in rushing waters and singing whales appear in the bay. Her wrath, patient and ancient, awakens to clear the space once again. Rebirth me, mother. Make me anew. Let me drink wine and listen to words of poetry and prose. Let me rise and speak in my own tongue — the spell I write on a napkin.

Featuring:

Ryan Boudinot, whose novels map the Pacific Northwest's fractured utopias.

Dario Cvencek, a Bosnian War refugee turned Seattle poet whose debut collections excavate the stubborn persistence of love.

Diana Xin, whose debut story collection Book of Exemplary Women traces an intergenerational haunting — girls and women bending against erasure, finding new forms large enough to hold what they carry.

IZ White, enrolled Snoqualmie tribal poet and electrifying spoken word performer, writing from this very soil since 1996 — whose live readings leave audiences asking to buy a book that doesn't yet exist.

Alongside the event is an open mic opportunity.

Capri Cellars offers flights, bites, and bottles for purchase that you can enjoy during the event.

Register Now or sign up at the door.

Ken Wright and How Source is Everything with Pinot Noir

After 45 years of wine making experience Ken Wright Cellars believes in a simple truth: source is everything. Their approach to the craft of wine growing is one of stewardship rather than manipulation. They use organic certified practices as a base and expand upon that with advanced nutrition-based farming. By analyzing both their soil profile and vines, maintaining proper crop levels, personally sampling each vineyard, and hand-sorting each cluster, they ensure that the inherent character in their fruit is revealed in the finished wine. Minimal handling of wine is essential to preserve what it is; a gift of nature.

Ken Wright Cellars produces three tiers of Pinot noir. These three tiers serve as an educational experience about growing Pinot noir in the Willamette Valley. Their Willamette Valley Pinot noir is an introduction to the diverse qualities of the region. The next level is their AVA (American Viticultural Area) Series Pinot Noir which are expressions of their respective microclimates and specific geology. The ultimate connection of people to place is their 13 single vineyard Pinot noir offerings.

Join us with the visionary Ken Wright and how he changed the thought process behind Pinot Noir in the Willamette Valley. Ken brings us over 45 years of experiences with fascinating stories and even better wines.

Wines being poured:

  • Tyrus Evan Pinot Gris

  • Ken Wright Cellars Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

  • Ken Wright Cellars Eola-Amity Pinot Noir

  • Ken Wright Cellars Yamhill-Carlton Pinot Noir

Kyle MacLachlan - Pursued by Bear Virtual Tasting

I am thrilled to announce that acclaimed actor, winery owner and vintner of Pursued by Bear wines, Kyle MacLachlan, will join Capri Cellars' Virtual Wine Tasting series.

Kyle MacLachlan is a native of Yakima, Washington in the heart of the Columbia Valley wine appellation. MacLachlan has produced five highly-rated wines: Pursued by Bear Cabernet Sauvignon, Baby Bear Syrah, Bear Cub Red, Twin Bear Cabernet Sauvignon and Blushing Bear Rose.

What began as an unabashed love for his home state and a desire to stay connected to his family roots has become a true passion and dedication to the craft of winemaking. MacLachlan has become an advocate and evangelist for the unique properties and flavor profile of Washington state wine and is personnaly involved in every aspect of Pursued by Bear winemaking.

MacLachlan recongnizes the connection between acting and winemaking in terms of the combination and balance of process, patience and creativity. He chose to call his wine Pursued by Bear as an homage to perhaps the most famous of all stage directions, "exit, pursued by bear," from Act III, scene iii of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale. It's a startling and unexpected phrase that's not only a nod to his theatrical roots but also plays to his sense of fun.

MacLachlan is perhaps best known for his performance as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper in David Lynch's ground-breaking series Twin Peaks.
